Vetting & Inspections

Ready before the inspector boards.

We prepare vessels for RightShip, SIRE 2.0 and CDI inspections. Most of the work is done remotely, with questionnaires written for your vessel; then we attend on board for a full pre-vetting when she is ready.

Inspection programmes

Each programme, on its own terms.

Dry bulk · RISQ 3.2

RightShip

RightShip now asks for an inspection on vessels aged 11 years and over, and from 1 January 2027 on vessels aged 10 and over. RISQ 3.2 consolidated or removed 30 questions; we prepare against the current version and the Safety Score effects of each observation.

Tankers · OCIMF

SIRE 2.0

Questions set by vessel type and operation, evidence captured during the inspection, and attention to human factors such as fatigue and workload. Since October 2025 a focused campaign has added ship hardening and access control (question 7.2.1) to every inspection.

Chemical & gas tankers

CDI

Preparation for the Chemical Distribution Institute’s marine inspection, with attention to cargo handling, tank cleaning records and the procedures chemical charterers check first.

Paris · Tokyo · USCG · AMSA

Port state control

Pre-arrival checks against the regime’s focus areas and current campaigns, and help after a detention: rectification, class and flag coordination and the evidence the authority needs.

We prepare vessels for inspections carried out by the programmes’ accredited inspectors.

Our method

Remote first. On board when she is ready.

Travel is the expensive part of a pre-vetting. Doing the groundwork remotely means the attendance is spent confirming, coaching and closing, not discovering.

  1. A questionnaire written for her

Set for the vessel type and the inspection she faces, mapped to the programme’s questions. The crew answers it, with photos, before anyone travels.

  2. Remote review

Certificates, records, SMS forms, previous inspection reports, PSC history and the crew’s answers, reviewed by us.

  3. Gap report

Every finding with the action needed, who owns it, vessel or office, and by when. We track the close-out remotely.

  4. Onboard pre-vetting

A full mock inspection the way the inspector will do it, crew interviews and human-factors questions included, with coaching on the spot.

  5. After the inspection

Help with the operator’s comments and corrective actions for any observations, within the programme’s deadlines.

Audits & inspections

Beyond vetting.

Internal audits

ISM · ISPS · MLC

Shipboard and office audits that find what an external auditor would, reported with evidence and practical corrective actions.

Navigation audits

At sea or remote

Bridge team practice, passage planning and ECDIS use observed at sea, or reviewed remotely from ECDIS and VDR data.

Company self-assessments

DryBMS · TMSA 3

Self-assessment against each element with the evidence behind it, and a plan to reach the next stage.

Pre-purchase and condition inspections

Sale and purchase

Hull, machinery, cargo gear, records and class status, reported with photographs and an estimate of the work the vessel will need.

Training

On board and in the office

SIRE 2.0 interviews and human factors, the RISQ 3.2 changes for crews and office staff, and short training on board during every attendance.

Get in touch

Tell us which inspection is coming.

Send the vessel, the programme and the expected date. We return the questionnaire for her within the scope we agree, and plan the attendance around her port calls.
